Founded 1977

Save The Whales' mission is to preserve and
protect the ocean and its inhabitants.

Maris Sidenstecker II displays the shirt she designed
at age 14 in front of Monterey Bay.

Here it is, the tee-shirt that launched this organization over 40 years ago.  MarisII designed this shirt when she was 14 years old, and had 12 of them made with money from her savings account.
She had read of the cruel way whales were slaughtered, and was moved to do something to help.

The shirt is a little threadbare, the lettering is cracked in places, and there are holes in it, but the message is true. Our purpose
is to preserve and protect the ocean and its inhabitants.

When we began over 40 years ago, our focus was education.
It remains our focus to this date, and we have educated over 313,000 students with hands-on programs and untold numbers through our website and social media.

Thank you for your continuing interest and participation in our
efforts; we could not do it without you.

Or, you can give in other ways -

Consider leaving a legacy to Save The Whales by making them a beneficiary of your pension plan, annuity, IRA, will, or insurance policy. You will help our efforts to educate youth with our outreach programs - teaching adults and children about the dangers facing whales and marine mammals and how each person can make a difference.

Thank you.

Dee, the
 Beautiful Whale

See the inside of our humpback whale, The children love it as do adults. They can see the outside and then go inside and marvel at her organs. This is the newest addition to our outreach programs.

Amanda, our instructor, shows how a plastic bottle can stop passage of food in a whale and bring death.

Children love to visit Dee's insides. Here they are under her heart.

Children by her lungs which are like  ours, only much, much bigger.
Girl with Baleen
Also on display with Dee are artifacts from whales that were once living.
