Sing to Save the Whales every year on May 15th

We invite schools, ecology clubs, church groups, organizations and individuals to participate in our annual Sing to Save The Whales Day held each year in May. Seven years ago Joan Cobb—a songwriter and music teacher—wrote “Save The Whales” for the Save The Whales website. That song inspired worldwide requests for the song and the creation of a CD entitled "Songs to Heal the Planet, Children Singing to Save the Earth" (click here to learn more about this wonderful music CD).

Please sing along with us! We strive to have participation from around the world. We were pleased to have a school from Bremen, Germany, join us a few years ago.

Our mission is to preserve and protect the ocean and its inhabitants.

Save the Whales is a California nonprofit organization that began in 1977, by a mother and daughter team. Maris Sidenstecker II designed a t-shirt at the age of 14. The Maris team volunteered their time, on weekends in local art fairs, and sold t-shirts, and gave out information to help the whales. Forty years later, Save the Whales continues to inspire children, the future of the planet, to know that their actions can promote change. Education is the key to saving whales, oceans, and ourselves.

Balloon Ambassador

Balloons are perceived as a celebration of life: The birth of a child, grand openings, birthdays, and well wishes. But for marine animals, balloons may mean death, as do other forms of plastic.
